Plot Summary for Iron Man 1
The playboy wolf and genius Tony Stark is the successful CIO of the Stark Industries, a weapon company founded by his father. His second in command is Obadiah Stane, who worked with his father, and his loyal and professional secretary is Pepper Potts, who has a crush on Tony. While in Afghanistan to demonstrate the ultimate Jericho missile developed by his company, his military convoy is attacked and Tony is seriously wounded on his chest and kidnapped by a group of rebels that wants him to assemble a missile for their use. Tony stays with his abductors for three months and develops a powerful metallic armor to escape from the cave where he is arrested. He decides to stop manufacturing weapons in his company under the protest of Obadiah, and dedicates his time to improve the armor, manufacturing it with gold and titanium and installing a propulsion system to fly. However, Pepper discovers that Tony was betrayed by Obadiah, who is using Tony’s data to build prototype armor for him, transforming it in the ultimate weapon. Iron Man II Preview (Due in May, 2010)
- the Mandarin: he is Iron Man’s nemesis and the leader of Ten Rings, the secret organization we’ve already had a glimpse of in the first Iron Movie (The Afghan terrorist was indeed wearing the ring of the evil group).
- Demon in a bottle: in the comic book Tony Stark vainly strives to cope with his guiltness of selling weapons in the past and is depressed after loosing Pepper Potts who fell in love with an other man. So Iron Man 2 could dwell on this darker side of Marvel’s superhero. But it may not be attractive enough for the marketing team… Besides Jon Favreau would have asserted that such a theme has already be done in Hancock.
- War Machine: In Iron Man 2, Don Cheadle (who is replacing Terrence Howard because the guy was to greedy for Marvel), in the role of Jim Rhodes Tony Stark’s friend and pilot, may get a wider role as War Machine, giving a hand to a temporarily weakened Iron Man.
Mostly speculations for now but details about the plot of Iron Man 2 should leak out in a not too distant future. But maybe you have a suggestion to Marvel and Jon Favreau about Iron Man 2?
The Black Widow was originally a Russian super-spy who eventually defects to the United States. She was trained as a spy, martial artist, and sniper, and outfitted with an arsenal of high-tech weaponry, including a pair of wrist-mounted energy weapons dubbed her “Widow’s Bite”.
Sarlett Johansson is really lovely in her suit of Black Widow for the movie Iron Man 2.

You may have here below a first look at Mickey Rourke as Iron Man’s new nemesis, Ivan Vanko aka Whiplash:
(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)
Whiplash makes his first appearance at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix.
Ivan Vanko is a Russian ex-con who managed to build his own twisted version of the Iron Man suit. His nickname comes from a pair of deadly whips which are powered by the suit’s glowing chest piece.
Director Jon Favreau has been hinting at the similarity between the technology used in Iron Man’s armor and Whiplash’s:
Here’s a new picture showing Whiplash in his full glory:

Whiplash won’t be the only enemy in the movie Iron Man 2: Tony Stark will also compete with Stark Industries’ rival Justin Hammer (played by Sam Rockwell). Besides he will have to cope with his new superhero status…

It’s official now: the production of the movie Iron Man 2 has been kick started. Indeed, movie sets are being built for the movie sequel to Iron Man. Thanks to Director Jon Favreau (a real geek with a tweeter account here) We have a first picture from Tony Stark’s house:

I suppose they’re rebuilding the set of this fake house, probably because the first movie set was destroyed. On the picture cinematographer Matthew Libatique is standing next to Jon Favreau.
The much anticipated sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on May 7, 2010. Well Iron man 2 can’t come out soon enough! Bring it on Jon Favreau!
